He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
Proverbs 2:7 NLT
To address outlandish conceit in today's society, it is important to use a common sense approach to address life's challenges and maintain sane moral ethics.
When perplexing situations arise which call for a response, there are those who use the acronym WWJD – What Would Jesus Do? Of course, to understand what Jesus would do is to know WDJD – What Did Jesus Do. This means they would have to take time to read Scripture. In His first earthly face to face encounter with the enemy of mankind, Jesus consistently referred to what is written. They were His responses to the three temptations that can interfere with a person's purpose and blessings in this life: the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
By using what is written, Jesus applied one of the most important attributes of a focused human being, which I will call JCS – just common sense. JCS is also the acronym for the reason The Messiah walked on this earth. JCS is the acronym for a very focused mission. JCS is one thing that everyone in the world needs to know – Jesus Christ Saves!
Many theologians love to expound on what Jesus said in response to the devil's recommendations and offers. What is important is not only what Jesus said but also what He did not do. He did not do anything that the devil recommended. He did not accept any offers coming from the devil and he did not compromise His mission with a middle of the road or common ground approach.
In the book of Revelation, to the angel of the church of Laodicea, the Lord expressed His disproval because they were neither cold nor hot. Because they were lukewarm, God warned them to repent or He would reject them like one who is nauseated.
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul advises the readers on how to please God.
“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2
So, the world we live in today is coming up with some very bizarre ideas, actions and things that some want to be called normal. We live in a time when most children can tell the difference between a boy and a girl. Yet there is a grown educated woman who sits on the nation's highest court, selected as a candidate because she is a woman, who claims she does not know what a woman is. This claim was made on record and is now a part of this nation's history.
Meanwhile, there is a group of folks, who she may have been trying not to offend, who are trying to confuse children about their gender.
So we are facing a situation where the question is: Are there 90 genders or 2? Scientifically, on the chromosome cellular level, XY = Male, XX = Female. What if a male claims to be female and a female claims to be male, does that change their gender? What if someone mutilates a boy or girl, does that change their gender? The main clue is that neither thought nor action changes their chromosomes.
So to know the answer to the underlying question in these scenarios, are there 90 genders or only 2? Use JCS.
Those who do not use JCS will be like one of my cousins in his younger days who thought that by putting a towel around his neck, he could fly like superman on TV. He climbed to the loft of the barn, jumped and the ground knocked him out. He learned the hard way that wearing a cape does not enable you to fly. Since he did not embrace JCS, he was hurt by the consequences of his fall.
Not only does this apply to a person. It is important for nations to acknowledge JCS.
